Description
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic leader to fill the role of Head of Nursery / Head of KG to oversee the management and academic direction of the early childhood education program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading both the Nursery and Kindergarten divisions, ensuring a high standard of teaching, learning, and overall development for young children. This role requires a strong commitment to fostering a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment. The Head will effectively manage a diverse team of educators and work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and the school leadership to meet the developmental needs of children aged 3 to 6.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strong, strategic leadership for the Nursery and Kindergarten divisions, setting clear educational goals aligned with the institution’s vision and values.
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of teachers, support staff, and administrators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
- Ensure smooth transitions between the Nursery and Kindergarten divisions, promoting consistency in educational practices and learning experiences.
- Lead the recruitment, training, and professional development of staff, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are met across both divisions.
Curriculum & Instructional Leadership:
- Oversee the development and implementation of a high-quality, age-appropriate curriculum that encourages inquiry-based learning, creativity, and critical thinking.
- Ensure the curriculum aligns with national or international education standards and incorporates best practices in early childhood education.
- Support teachers in using effective instructional strategies and assessment techniques to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Regularly assess and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching methods, ensuring academic standards and focusing on individual student growth.
Student Development & Well-Being:
- Ensure the holistic development of children, focusing on their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being.
- Work closely with counselors and special education staff to provide support for students with varying learning needs.
- Foster positive behavior, emotional regulation, and healthy peer relationships in the Nursery and Kindergarten settings.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where all students feel valued and supported.
Parent and Community Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents regarding their child's academic development, behavior, and well-being.
- Build strong relationships with parents through regular communication, parent-teacher conferences, workshops, and school events.
- Encourage active parental involvement and provide opportunities for parents to engage in their children's learning journey.
- Represent the institution in community events to enhance its presence and foster positive relationships with the local community.
Administrative & Operational Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Nursery and Kindergarten divisions, ensuring efficient scheduling, staffing, and resource management.
- Manage the divisions’ budgets, allocating resources effectively for educational materials, staff development, and program needs.
- Ensure proper maintenance and safety standards for facilities, equipment, and materials.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic performance, and developmental progress, ensuring timely reporting to parents and school leadership.
- Ensure compliance with local educational regulations, health and safety standards, and institutional policies.
Assessment & Reporting:
- Develop systems for monitoring and assessing student performance, both academically and socially, using a variety of assessment methods.
- Work with teachers to analyze assessment data and make adjustments to teaching practices to support student achievement.
- Prepare regular reports on the progress and performance of students in both the Nursery and Kindergarten divisions for the leadership team and parents.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in early childhood education, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of early years frameworks and curriculum development.
- In-depth understanding of health, safety, and safeguarding standards in early childhood education.
- Relevant, valid teaching licenses as required by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
- IELTS score of 6.0 or higher (or an equivalent qualification) to demonstrate English proficiency.
- Experience with international curricula and a solid understanding of global education standards.
